This was the 2nd time we have stayed at the Horizonte and I would definitely recommend it. The hotel may not be luxurious but it is comfortable, clean and in a fantastic location to explore Palma and also near to the lovely beach at Cala Mayor (Where the Spanish royal family have their holiday palace!) -the no 46 bus to the beach is outside the hotel and takes approx 10mins/ 3.75 euros for 2 adults and a child. A taxi into Palma is only approx 6 euros and again there is a taxi rank outside the hotel. The hotel has a viewing veranda that looks out over Palma bay where you can see the cruise ships and boats and also the cathedral. I stayed at this Hotel for two nights in June 2011. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming, answered all my questions patiently and because it was my first stay with them upgraded my room to include a Jacuzzi. I had requested a room on a high floor with a sea view and got just that with fantastic views across the Bay of Palma and overlooking the cruise liner terminal. The room had no frills but was comfortable and very clean. The balcony was a little small but hey I didn't want to play football, just chill out. The pool and terrace were clean with the same fantastic view I enjoyed from the room. The Bar was a little dated which gave it character. Bar service was also very good. I cannot comment of the food or service in the restaurant as on this occasion I chose to eat at the Porto Pi shopping/entertainment centre a short walk away. We had booked this summer holiday at this hotel, due to some misunderstanding we were moved to apartment. We used Hotel Gala just for the half board. What a lovely food we had, breakfast buffet was tasty and had plenty of choice /kids loved the chocolate croissants, variety of cereals../, the dinner was buffet full of sallads, seafood, traditional dish /kids loved the fries :-( and pasta, soups were great/. I recommend the Sunday Buffet, the price is about 13 EUR and is absolutely lovely, popular for the locals. The staf were so friendly and helpfull, the hotel is very clean and the beach plus the airport is so close, which we found very convinient. Stayed one week at the Amic Gala as a last minute budget holiday. It is declared a 3star and if star ratings are based on cleanliness, location and friendliness of staff, it should have 5. Though it is older fashioned (kind of 1970's! ), it is extremely clean, staff are always tidying, cleaning, they never stop, but are always courteous and helpful. Restaurant operates on a help-yourself-buffet basis. Food was good, fresh, always found something to eat and always plentiful. Aircon is 50 euro per week or 9 euro per day, room fridge 14 euro per week, safe 14 euro per week. Some efforts have been made to update some of the aesthetics, but overall this is a comfortable, friendly, very clean hotel, don't judge it by its 1970's look. I was worried as i hadnt read many reviews on this hotel. Neednt have worried! As soon as we arrived - reception staff were lovely and very helpful. We had a garden view - room 401 - great room - very clean and perfect for our long weekend! would quite happily have stayed a few nights longer. Maids were in every day! We booked half board as it was cheaper than booking the room - so we ate out a few nights and decided on staying in to eat - i wished we had eated there a bit more as the food was yummy!!! its buffet style and you can eat as much as you like... we didnt eat at breakfast but the evening meal was great value for money. You can use the facilities of the hotel across the road too which is handy! The pool in gala is small - but as it is not busy it seems like a nice private pool area. There are many nationalities in the whole resort - we found we were a minority of the english there and found it hard to find english bars etc.. although it didnt really bother us too much...

Great welcome at reception on arrival, clean rooms , food was great ( buffet style in evenings ) lasagne beef etc very nice . My son and I were put up here by the insurance company after we were refused to fly due to my son's chickenpox. My expectations were therefore that it wouldn't be luxurious so I wasn't too disappointed. The plusses were that it is very close to the beach, about 2 minutes walk. The staff were friendly and spoke English well which is good as regretfully I do not speak Spanish. The male staff member in reception also acted as an interpreter for when I needed a doctor's report to say my son was able to fly. The room was kept clean as were the corridors and communal areas that we went in. There is an eroski city supermarket nearby for drink/fruit etc for snacks in the room and there were a couple of cash points nearby up the beach road.We did manage to walk to and visit the aquarium nearby one morning and my son loved riding back on the road train along the beack. This is nice,clean hotel whit pleasent staff. I got room with view on the garden and it was really calm. Problem could be if you got room with view on the street because you need ear plugs. The hotel is near beach and bus station for Palma is close.Food is o.k and restaurant is clean. Hotel Miraflores was a pleasant surprise for us. :)We had a room on the 3rd floor with a seaview. The room was clean, with 3 beds (we don't know why we two have got 3 beds :)), bedside tables and dressing table with a mirror. Another big mirror was situated at the inside of the wardrobe door. There was TV which you can also use as a radio, so every night before going out we had excellent music at the room. :) Bathroom was spacious with a bathtub. Balcony had table and chairs. Air conditioner and safe are not included in the price and safe costs 2 eur / day.Many compliments for very kind and friendly staff! They all really made our holiday even more beautiful. I've spent 10 days in hotel "Miraflores", during my summer vacation. It's a bit old-fashioned, but the first impression was very good. When you enter the hotel on the left side there is a lobby, straight ahead is a bar (billiar table, ping-pong, darts are free) and a (small) reception and, on the right is way to the pool. I got the room on the 1st floor, so it wasn't necessary to take a lift, which is also old-fashioned but it functions properly. I've stayed in a room with two separated beds (which, if you want, can be put together). Thee room was quite OK, very big with a great bathroom. The TV is included in price (but there are very few non-spanish channels) and an air-condition has to be payed. There is also a basic furniture (table, chair, mirror etc.). One small objection is for a telephone which was out of order for all the time I was there. The bathroom is very roomy, with a toilette, sink, a bathtub, even a bidet. All that was very clean. We stayed in the Colon for two nights - on the first and last nights of our holiday in Mallorca. My partner and I were really impressed with it. Location is very good. It is only approx 10 min walk to the main bus/train station, and approx 15-20 min walk to the main shopping area / cathedral / marina, along nice streets. There are a few cafes and restaurants nearby - definitely go to "Tasca" (owned by Mark Fosh) only 3 streets away - lovely food - and stop for a drink and snack in the 31 Decembre bar / cafe 2 blocks away - great staff and resonable drinks. Staff at the hotel were really nice, very helpful and friendly. On the day of our checkout, we didn't need to be at the airport until about 6.30pm. I was delighted that the hotel offers late check out of up to 6pm for a mere €15. This gave us the chance to do some more exploring / shopping before coming back to our room, packing, and showering. The room appeared to have been recently renovated. The staff were excellent and friendly. The hotel itself was very clean and the wireless internet was fine. They also sell bottled water in reception for a reasonable price.We found the location very convenient. An easy 10 minute walk from the train/main bus station from the airport. A nice side strip of nice restaurants within 5 minutes and a main street with a few coffee shops/average looking restaurants. It's an easy walk towards the Old Town and the Cathederal and more shopping. The popular Tren De Soller departs from right near the Hotel aswell.The staff could have been slightly more knowledgeable about the area and things to do. A well run, clean, reasonably priced hotel with good wifi connection, room safe for laptops etc. air conditioning, TV and a small fridge. Could have done with tea making facility in room (we went prepared with our own travel kettle). Numerous cafes and bars along the road as well as a supermarket, all within 200 meters. The staff were friendly and helpful and all understood my language (English) The hotel is about 10 minute walk from Palma's main rail and bus station. The public transport here is cheap and very efficient a far cry from the UK where they want to rip you off at every move.We were on a hill walking holiday so the central location was essential. Hotel recently reformed. Clean and well managed. Staff friendly and helpful. Rather noisy and the first night we stayed there the hotel had accepted a booking from a group of young men who held a party in the rooms and roof terrace above our room. This went on into the early hours and made sleeping difficult. The walls of the hotel are thin and we could hear talking and the television in the next room.The room we were allocated was very small but adequate.
